Nissan LEAF: 100% Electric – Zero Emissions – Here Today

The five-passenger, all-electric Nissan LEAF has arrived in New Hampshire. This totally new type of car with its lithium-manganese battery, (good for 100 miles and rechargeable in eight hours), has just arrived at Nissan of Keene.

You are invited to come for a test drive. We think you’ll be amazed. The car is absolutely silent, has no gas tank or tailpipe, and uses no gasoline whatsoever. You can even call your car from your smartphone and tell it to start up and turn on the heat or air conditioning. (Then it will call you back to let you know when this has been done. No kidding.)

New Hampshire drivers should be pleased that the Cold Weather Package, (consisting of a battery heater, heated outside mirrors, heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, and an HVAC duct to the rear seating area), is now standard equipment on the SL model. It also comes standard with the addition of a quick-charge port.

Nissan Serves Up a “Taste of Innovation” with Food Truck Concepts Built with Nissan NV Commercial Vans.

(NNA). “The Nissan NV High Roof model is especially adaptable for food truck and catering use thanks to its 76.9-inch tall interior, which provides the flexibility for the mobile chefs to comfortably move around inside while creating their gastronomical delights.”

The same can be said of the epicurean innovators behind two of Los Angeles’ most popular food trucks, The Grilled Cheese Truck and Coolhaus truck. Both companies are teaming with Nissan to combine their innovative takes on two food classics – grilled cheese sandwiches and ice cream sandwiches – with a pair of custom-outfitted Nissan NV vans.

Nissan ranked 4th Most Innovative Company in the World

In Fast Company’s 2011 Most Innovative Companies list, Nissan came in fourth, right after (in order) Apple, Twitter and Facebook.

The Japanese automaker beat out Groupon and Google and 44 others for excellent work done in the recent past. Nissan was given the nod for “creating the Leaf, the first mass-market, all-electric car.” How about that…? Nissan came up with a more innovative idea than Internet coupons.

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn spoke with Fast Company and he said a few interesting things. For example, he said Nissan’s target market for the Leaf is “women and young people.” He also took a swipe at Tesla saying…

“The first electric cars were awful. They were selling for $100,000. Who’s going to buy that? Then you have the Volt, which is, what, $40,000? This is $25,000 [after government incentives], but even that I consider expensive. I don’t want to make a niche product.”

No automaker aside from Nissan made Fast Company’s 2011 list. The only other automotive-related company on the list is Enerkem, which can turn trash into ethanol.

Nissan Altima becomes the best-selling sedan in America

The Nissan Altima is now America’s best-selling sedan. With a total of 32,289 Altimas sold during the month of March, the long-time rival of mainstays like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord secured a huge win for Nissan.

Nissan as a whole also came out ahead in March, posting sales of 121,141 vehicles versus 95,468 the same month last year. That’s an increase of 28.4 percent, and it also means Nissan held 8.8-percent total market share that month—another milestone.

This dramatic increase is just one of many of Nissan’s achievements this past March, which also saw the Rogue gaining 68.8 percent in sales over the same month last year, as well as the Sentra gaining 104.7 percent.

Nissan continues to shatter its sales goals in this record-setting Q1 of 2011 and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. With numbers this big, Nissan is looking at a banner year for 2011.

Nissan of Keene is proud to announce a new website devoted to the new line of Nissan Commercial Vehicles. The site featuring the new Nissan Commercial vans and trucks, is located at http://www.nissancommercialvehicles.us .

Based on a chassis similar to that of Nissan’s full-size Titan pickup, these vans represent an entirely new line of business for the automaker in the U.S. market. (Nissan of Keene will primarily serve customers in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts, but customers from anywhere in New England are welcome.)

They are full-size (maxi) vans that come in three versions, the NV1500, NV2500HD and NV3500HD, and offer a choice of a V-6 or V-8 engine and either a standard-height roof or a raised roof that is high enough for someone 6-foot-3 to stand up inside.

The NV has a 120-inch cargo floor length and 70.2-inch maximum interior width. Standard models can accommodate cargo up to 55.8 inches, while those with the high roof can hold items up to 76.9 inches high. That also allows the interior to be configured as a mobile workspace, in which most people would be able to stand up without touching the ceiling

The dealership is very enthusiast about this new line of Nissan vehicles, which will be at the New Hampshire dealership in April. (Both Nissan Commercial Vans and Trucks are expected at that time.) Nothing quite like these vehicles were available before now, and Nissan of Keene is proud to offer this entirely new line. “A work vehicle that’s more than a van.”
